Handwritten and signed account of his journey from Cairo to Khartoum. The item is dated 4 May 1874. The manuscript is marked "Private." Also enclosed is a blue envelope stamped "On Her Majesty's Service" with the handwritten note: "Left with Mr. Lindsey 4 Hill Street, Gordons Manuscript Diary of his journey to Goudokoro." Also included is a letter to General Sir Frederick Chapman which accompanied the account.
